Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Starting in 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American businesses and families saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Every Pella® Product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. What does this mean for you? Not only could you notice a decline with your heating and cooling bill, you’ll also help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are specifically designed and customized for your home, meaning no two projects are identical. Our large variety of products make it hard to discuss pricing without first understanding your wants and needs and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it mutually beneficially to send out a Pella sales representative who can give you a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To expedite the quoting procedure, your Pella® sales representative is prepared with a computer and a portable printer so that they can provide you with all the quote information you’ll need—just as soon as the sales representative has a chance to consider the requirements of the project and matches them with your vision.

In addition to offering a wide range of high-grade products to pick from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you great window and door products at affordable prices, providing you with a chance to make the home improvements you want to while building great value into your Baltimore area home while you do it.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We suggest that you should use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning solution or use an ammonia free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. Or you can make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Apply the solution to a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. We do not recommend glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based because they could form streaks or create a film that attracts moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses reliable installers who are certified to install Pella doors and windows. We require them to complete a carefully crafted set of training courses so that your windows and doors are installed properly and meet Pella’s strict warranty criteria. We look for the best Baltimore-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before we hire anyone, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are are insured by liability and workers compensation insurance. Aside from Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your local Pella branch provides services and support that “big box” stores can’t provide. Our staff is made up of professionals whose expertise is in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that your renovation will have the knowledge of our whole team. We frequently use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. You can easily contact your sales representative or our main office if you have any concerns and we will get to work resolving the issue.
